Mountain boat replaces acetylene gas with natural gas

A set of compressed natural gas decompression equipment was successfully installed at Shanhaiguan Shipyard. The acetylene gas used by the plant for more than 30 years is about to be eliminated, and it has become the first shipbuilding enterprise in China to use compressed natural gas.

The person in charge of the mountain boat told the reporter that as a state-owned large and medium-sized shipbuilding and repairing enterprise, the acetylene gas used by the mountain boat for steel sheet gas cutting is about 720,000 cubic meters per year, and it consumes about 2,400 tons of calcium carbide. At the same time, it also produces a large amount of industrial waste such as waste carbide slag. The damage to the environment, and the current operation of the acetylene gas production station, is extremely dangerous and has become the ship's first major source of danger. To this end, companies not only have to pay huge costs, but environmental protection and safety issues have also caused great problems for the top management.

In the new century, the use of clean energy has become a trend. The choice of environmentally friendly and efficient industrial gas has become a new topic in mountain boat research. At the end of 2005, the factory sent an inspection team to Shanghai, Jiangsu and other southern shipping companies to conduct research. Through peer introduction and field visits, compressed natural gas has become more and more widely used due to its obvious advantages of safety, economy, environmental protection and high efficiency. The superiority of the industrial field, the mountain boat determined that the replacement of the existing acetylene gas with compressed natural gas is the best solution to solve the mountain boat energy conservation and environmental protection issues.

According to Wu Weibing, a process technician at the plant, compressed natural gas is a new type of gas used for cutting metals. Its composition is a mixture of new additives added to natural gas. With this new gas gas, the combustion temperature can be greatly improved without changing the basic properties of natural gas. Compared with acetylene gas, this gas supply mode is flexible, no waste gas is wasted, oxygen consumption is low, and the cost can be saved by 30% every year. During use, it is harmless to the environment and workers, and has high cutting precision and low tempering rate. Due to its light weight, it is particularly suitable for deep and closed cabin operations.
